Page Layouts
Each book we produce is unique, but can be described in terms of two basic styles – Classic and Magazine.

A Classic layout is the one preferred by professional photographers who want their photography to work hard. Like fine art books, this style has one or two images per page with white space on each page. There are some full spreads and full bleeds in a classic layout. A 120 page book done in this style uses 80 to 100 images.

A Magazine layout used more images per page and fills each page with images superimposed on other images – similar to a fashion magazine layout. A 120 page book in this style uses 150-200 images.

A Memoir layout has a lot of text supported by images, or images with a lot of “heavy” captions or text. A memoir layout tells a story in words and pictures and is styled to reflect the event – a memorable life, a tribute at a retirement, or a family history.
Customer Designs
If you prefer to design your own book, use the PhotoBook Design Tool – a free software application, or use our submission guidelines to prepare your pages using your own graphic design tools – and remember that page one begins on the right and that sewn binding books have page counts that are multiples of 12, so we can sew the signatures. We are happy to provide advice and assistance as you prepare your page layout.
